Stefan Graczyk

Hello,

My name is Stefan and I was part of the team responsible for the development, design and implementation of the Landing Gear System for the SAE Aero uOttawa Team that competed in the 2019 SAE Aero Design East Competition in Fort Worth Texas, USA. Successfully graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering with 4th year courses concentrating on Aerodynamics, Aircraft Flight Mechanics and Finite Element Analysis.

As of currently, I work as a Junior Verification & Validation Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems - Canada supporting the development of onboard mission-critical systems on the Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone Helicopter set for deployment for the Canadian Army. My responsibilities include test execution and software issue verification in an integrated cockpit avionics laboratory environment.

My time as part of the Aero uOttawa Team has been invaluable to me and it was a great experience in developing and building the model aircraft. I learned how to work as a team to reach a common goal within a strict deadline along with practical hands-on skills and applying my engineering studies to something real. Travelling and competing to Fort Worth was unreal and a simply amazing experience one that I will look back on as one of the highlights of my university career. Applying the theoretical knowledge I gained through university courses and applying it to a real and fully functioning aircraft is an experience I will take with me for the rest of my professional career.

Shatakshi Saxena

Hello,

My name is Shatakshi and my role in Aero uOttawa was Body Team Lead. I graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. Currently, I work as a Structural EIT at Pinpoint Engineering. My responsibilities include doing a variety of work such as, drafting with AutoCAD, doing load calculations and sizing beams.

I absolutely loved my time at Aero uOttawa, it was a great experience in terms of learning how to be adaptable, present in front of a crowd and gain hands-on skills. More over, I cherish the time I got to bond with my team when working long days with them, traveling together and getting to represent the school at competition. I’ll forever look back at my university days and give credit to being part of this team and others like at it, for making it so fun! There’s absolutely no experience like this.
